    Default Favorite Flying Songs

Ok, little off the catagory, but was trying to put some flying music on my Ipod and was wondering what your favorites are.

I'm not a pilot but the Air Force song seems appropriate...."off we go, into the wild blue yonder"............

I did this one a couple years ago for a Supercub fly-in. It sounds better sung by a bunch of peple around a camp fire after about 3 beers.

    "Cub Drivers In The Sky"

An old Bush Pilot went out a flyin’,, out one dark and windy day,
Through a storm he wandered, as he cruised along his way
When all at once a mighty fleet of ghost-like Cubs he saw
Come blastin’ through the ragged skies,,,, and up a cloudy draw.

Look out below,, we’re flying too slow…
    Cub drivers in the sky

Their props were rings of fire and their wings were made of steel
Their tires were black and shiny and their hot exhaust he could feel
A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky
He saw the ghost pilots coming hard... and he heard their mournful cry

Look out below,, now we’re flying too low..

    Cub drivers in the sky.

Their windscreens fogged, their fuel run low, their headsets soaked with sweat
They're flyin' hard to reach home base, but they ain’t got there yet
'cause they've got to fly forever in that storm up in the sky
In Bush Planes breathing fire,,, flying past you’ll hear them cry

Look out below,, we’ve a thousand miles to go….

    Cub drivers in the sky.

As the Flyers slipped on by him, he heard one radio his name
If you want to save your soul from hell a flyin o’er this stormy range
Then fly-boy change your ways today or with us you will fly
Tryin' to reach a landing strip.... across these endless skies.

Look out below,, we’re flying low n’ slow….

    Cub drivers in the sky.

He foolishly ignored them, as he flew along his way.
The storm clouds turning darker,,, as was the price he’d have to pay.
For when Mother Nature holds the cards, it’s all a hopeless bet
And that cold hand on your shoulder,,,,, is the Reaper collectin’ debt……

Look out below,, now your gas is too low….
    Cub drivers in the sky.

This tale happened years ago, when that pilot disappeared
The legend says he’s still up there, by lightning bolts he steers
So if you are a pilot,, never gamble with your soul….
Or you’ll join that old bush pilot,,, on that endless storm patrol….

Watch out below,,, don’t wager your soul,,,
    Cub drivers in the sky
    Cub drivers in the sky,
    Cub drivers in the sky…

Anything by one of these ladies while flying durng the summer midnight
Patty Griffen, Brandi Carlisle and Sarah MacLaughlin.
Low level, technical stuff, nothing keeps the senses sharper than the Regimental Pipes & Drums that or the sound of six cylinders.

    Default Bill Staines

Bill Staines has some great airplane story songs. 'Tingmisartok' and 'Bill Hosie'.

Lou Nathanson has a catchy one called 'Cheatin' Death'.

I personally like to listen to Bob Dylan while I'm crossing the North Pacific. Other must haves for the ipod are The Beatles, Zeppelin and Springsteen.

Some of our flights are 10 hours plus, so I get a lot of use out of my ipod.

    Default Fred Bear

Fred Bear, I was just riding back for the fair and threw in a old MP3 CD and remember how much I like the song, so I added it to my Ipod. Also one of the great hunting songs.
