    Default PWS deer poll

If you could go anywhere in PWS for deer where would you go?? Out of any port Whitter, Valdez or Cordova.....

I am taking a little informal poll....

I'll start... I'd go to the southern tip of Montague... decent terrain. not incredibly long to get there.... can either fly or boat in...

    how about you??

Been to Montaque a couple of times, played out of PWS a few times. Once I went to Kodiak I found happiness.

    Default Montague/Green Island

I'd hunt Montague or Green, preferably starting mid-Oct, to at least have a chance to bag a Montague Brown Bear.

Matter of fact, If anyone one else has plans for a mid Oct hunt, let me know your dates. 2 or more boats are better than one. Tried it last Dec, but the weather would not cooperate with us.

    Default Cordova

Cordova is the best starting place of the three. From Valdez you have to go through the Arm which can be rather rough if not impassable in the late fall. It is also a 3 hour run out to the major deer populations. Whittier, nearly the same scenario, too many bays to cross with the wrong wind conditions.

Cordova you can fly or boat out of and not have to cross too much water to get to good hunting grounds.

I'd go where I went back in '94.......Kaiugnak Bay on Kodiak. We shot 2 of the biggest blacktails I have ever seen on Kodiak and only 1 bear in a weeks time. I believe most of it is native owned land now but if a guy could get a permit it would be some good hunting.
