    Default GMU 23 info needed

I drew a Moose permit for GMU 23 area 5. I have been talking to a fellow named Mike Vanning of Gateway guiding and was wondering of his reputation and any experiences that you may have had or know about him or the hunting area.

Have you asked him for referances? See what former clients have to say about his operation.

    Default Ok

I worked with them last fall (gear for his camp). It was his first year up here and he was hunting off a state unit just south of Buckland. I had no problems with him, and his 2 cubs were in great working order with all of the extras needed to hunt up here. As far as success rate I donít know as this was his first year up here. Ask him for client references.

    Smile Gateway Guiding website

I like the part that says: "Come prepared to tip your guide, cook, pilot, and packer"
I guess I haven't seen it worded like that before. Got a chuckle out of it anyway.

This might have been his first year working for you, Walt. It is far from his first year in NW alaska.

If I were looking for a guided hunt and saw that on his website, I wouldn't even consider him. Sounds like he doesn't pay his help much and expects you to do it.
