    Default Pioneer Peak

Does anyone know the current conditions of hiking Pioneer Peak to the South Summit? Am planning on doing it in the next couple of days. There looks like quite a bit of snow up there still.

I was on the ridge trail a weekend before last. We went up to about 4400 feet where the trail levels out for a spell. We were just getting into snow patches. Nothing on the trail but plenty near by. We were in the clouds at that point with a stiff cold wind cutting perpendicular to the trail. We turned around there due to limited visibility and the cold. Wasn't our goal to get to the top as much as get a training hike in anyway. On the way out we passed 3 other parties with the intent of trying the summit. I'm guessing you can get there without much snow problems. However, nearly every day Pioneer has been engulfed in clouds this summer. You might pick a sunny day if we happen to have one this summer.
