    Default moose meat quality

What, if any is the difference in the quaility of meat from a large rutting bull and a smaller moose? Does it just come down to field care or are there other factors invovled?

My personally feeling is meat care in the field makes more of a difference than the age of a bull.

At what stage of teh rut are you referring to......a large bull moose that has been in rut for some time is terrible....but I think most of our seasons close prior to that stage....

I shot my moose last year on the 28th of Sept, it was musky as heck, but the meat was delicious. Gotta carefully cape out the skin as not to let it touch the meat, so field care has alot to do with how your meat is gonna taste in the end.
