Default Question about native Alaskan woods

I just want to know how y'all get your wood for smoking out there. Are there native trees in Alaska that you can use for smoking meat or do you have to have it imported?

    Thanks.

    Default smoking wood

Alder is everywhere. Proabaly most preferred. Some use birch though.

We have some crab apple in our area which works really good, but alder is most prevalent.
