Default Hike in Fishing and Camping Recommendation?

Posted this in Hiking as well. Looking for a place to hike into for camping and fishing this weekend. Was going to go into Crescent Lake but found it is closed to fishing till 7/08. Family of four with offspring 10 and 12 yoa, decent hikers. Like to stay within 100 miles of Wasilla and have various things to do. Lots to ask I know. Thanks.

If you don't mind Pike I like to hike into Redshirt lake there at Nancy lakes. It's close to you and nice. Pretty easy to get pike (I use herring under a bobber) Good fishing for little kids. There used to be an outfit at the park entrance (tippacanou or something) where you could rent a boat at the lake. they might have closed though.
The hike is 2 miles Or 3 I think. Marginal hills. Pretty easy hike. Cabins to rent, but I doubt they are available.
    Hope this helps.

Yep, there are about 12 set up campspots back there, and the rest is park. I wish I knew if tippacanou or whatever was still open. Last time I went there I used canoe and did really good. LOTS of bugs back there so be prepared.

    Default Tippecanoe

Here you go! http://www.paddlealaska.com/ They have canoes at redshirt. You pay and pick up paddles and vest at their office located on south rolley lake. park there and hike in to red shirt. They give you a key to the canoe located on redshirt at the trail head.

Redshirt is large so be careful out there! Also the coves look all the same. Another sugusted marking the cove (with red tape on a tree or something) where the trail head is so you can find your way back.
