    Question Whittier This Weekend

Who's heading out this weekend? I'm planning for my inaugural PWS trip and am hoping for flat water. I've got a 19' Habercraft with a 90 Honda hoping to camp somewhere in Colrose Passage. Long Bay maybe. I'm hoping to catch the 7:30 pm tunnel opening Friday. Anyone else headed out in similar direction & time? I figure there's safety in numbers.

    Thanks,
    Doug

I'm debating heading out. If I do we'll be leaving early Friday morning, and coming back late saturday. I'd like to run to the North side of Knight, and might even make it over to Montague.

Spoiled One, I saw your boat parked and it's a really nice boat you have... Where did you get your lettering for your boat name at?

Default Just back in Great Trip! Inspite of shrimp pot theft

Went out Wed. Calm seas over cast 70 shrimp our first night out (Thanks Potbuilder, for the gear and the pointers) Our friends had Sportsman's Warehouse pots and their own mix of bait 50 yards away and got 32 shrimp. Their pots were stolen off of Eleanor Point On Friday.
The reds are slowly coming into Main Bay. Had 3 to 4 footers leaving Surprise Cove, but it calmed down about half way across Port Wells.
Doug, were you camped out in Long Bay Last night?

    Smile Long Bay Camp

Yep. We set camp on the spit. What a beatiful weekend! North entrance to Culrose was to snotty on Sunday. I had to leave my skiff in Goose Bay & caught a ride in my Brother in law's Sea Sport. Sad thing is, by the time we scuttled the boat and got back to the entrance the water had layed down quite a bit, but fuel & time prevented going back. I'm hoping to get back to Goose Bay this week to get my boat.

    Default Clarification please

"scuttled the boat" ??? Say it isn't so. Is it resting on the bottom of the bay?
    Maybe you secured the boat?

    Red face Misuse of word

I should have said squirreled it away. No, it should be floating. It's tied off bow & stern across the NW lagoon in Goose Bay. It should be fine. I need to get back to it soon though.

spoiled one, can you post a close-up head on picture of your name? I haven't seen the frontal pic yet. We are still searching for a good looking way to have our name put on the new boat. Is it vinyl or what?

    Thanks....AkBillyBow

Default Hope this is not a dumb question

I see on this post people writing of Reds in main bay, I just recently started to enjoy fishing out of Whittier (last year), and to be honest I have a lot to learn. I have heard that Reds don't bite. Have I heard wrong if so what kind of setup do you use for them? What kind of run is there and is there any other area to catch reds out of Whittier? Thanks

Main Bay has a hatchery run of reds. For the best success, you will have to force feed them (weighted treble hook). Eshamy as well as Coghill have runs that you can fish too.
