    I'm still surprised that not all costal states and provinces have SW licenses.

    How many people in Alaska go three miles offshore? Not taking my 21 footer out there.

    After carefully reading it, it appears that this would apply to people fishing for salmon in the bay, or the mouth of a river too. Perhaps I read it wrong....but that is what I got. It also does not appear to have any impact on Alaska as we were on the exempt list.

    Default We're not on the exempt list, yet

    Alaska is not on the exempt list yet, but could be. Everyone in Alaska (except kids under 16) has to have an Alaska fishing license or permanent ID, fresh or saltwater, so we shouldn't need a federal license.

    You are correct. I guess I should have said should be since this is in the "proposal" state as of right now (which means that they have already decided). I really don't see anyone paying for this "extra" license off the road system and away from enforcement officials up here.
