Getting down to the wire so harvested this one. I though he might be a little bigger but not. At least the shot was good and he piled up within 30 yards. BowTech Pro40 Dually 72 pounds, Carbon Express Terminator arrows, Magnus SS Snuffer, 17 yards.

    Solo hunting again.

    Thought he was bigger. 6'2" x 5'8".

    Default Today

I have to register it today so will find out. It had a huge looking head. Fur is really thick. Has a 3" tear on the nose from fighting. The Magnus SS Snuffer tore a huge hole going in right on the edge of the scapula and penetrated almost through, hitting a tree root on the opposite side preventing a full pass-through.

Thanks for the congratulations guys. Now on to sheep!

Yes, yes, yes! I learned long ago that unless you are willing to maybe sacrifice your success rate, you are never going to be successful at archery hunting. I am also at that point in my hunting career, that the quality of the hunt is more important than success. This might be my last black bear. I have five on the wall now from the bow. Time for a brown bear or color phase.

great bear. I think folks sometimes forget what a great accomplishment it is to take any big game animal with a bow, since so many people are out trying it these days.

But seriously, you should try using a guide next time. They are really quite helpful, I hear

Conrats Dave. I am glad you connected with the bow. How did the rest of the party do? Any animal with a bow is a trophy. I was hoping to get one with the bow this year, but the grizz have ran me out of my area. Not one single blackie showed this year.
