    Default Spring Bear Hunt '08

I say spring because there was still snow on the ground in places when we left. Here's a shot of the bear country I hunt and believe me, there ARE bears.

This year I brought my buddy and his daughter with Kayla and I. The two just "happen" to be best friends.

Here is a shot of the 16 year old stand. This year we had to "beef" it up as it was getting a little creaky.

The first night was Kayla's. But after being in the stand only a few minutes, we missed a gorgeous 6ft blackie but quickly re grouped and bagged this young one an hour later a 12:06am!

The next morning at 4:15am belonged to Saundra!

A good friend that "finally" connected (we won't go there, lol).

Here's the two nicest of four taken from the first week of bear camp '08.

'09, eh? So I've got a year to prepare?

I love getting students who hunt. I had another forum member's child in my class this year, and I loved being able to talk hunting and fishing with him. Kids that are exposed to the natural world by their parents are among my best, so I'm looking forward to it!

    Default Awesome!

Congrats on a handful on very nice bears! It's wonderful to see the young ladies out there hammering 'em. I can only hope my daughter will wear the same smile that these two have someday when she's old enough to hold a rifle or bow!
Again, nice job to the girls and the parents.

    Thumbs up

Glad to hear you had a great bear season and the girls were successful! My middle daughter has been bugging me for over a year now to take her bear hunting. She still needs to spend a little more time at the range then she will be ready to give it a try.

Well done, Steve. I cannot wait until mine are old enough to join me for spring bears. Perhaps next season.
Spending my kids' inheritance with them, one adventure at a time.
