    Default Interior pike fishing

Are there any places on the road system up around Fairbanks to go catch some pike? I don't have access to a boat and will be up there for awhile in August. Info much appreciated!

    Default No boat, huh?

The best I can think of is some of the stocked ponds have had pike introduced into them. Check ADF&G's stocked lake pamphlet. There are several stocked lakes with pike.

I remember seeing a 30+ incher in one of the ponds across from the weigh station by Ft. Wainwright....Couldn't get him to bite, though. Might have something to do with how warm the water gets, availability of stocked fish, I wasn't using bait, I'm a crappy fisherman ...who knows.

There are also some pike out in the sloughs off the Tanana past the rifle range off of South Cushman. And I've heard there are pike in the sloughs off the Tanana by the airport as well.

There are also pike in Harding lake, but I'm not sure what the status of that population is or how easy it is to fish for them w/o a boat. Last I heard, there was a beaver dam cutting off the inflow to the lake. I remember seeing the lake had dropped quite a bit due to that.

None of these options is generally very productive fishing, IMO. But if you're insistent on pike, then those options are there...
