    Default Halibut leader length ?

I am changing out some old rusted hooks on halibut leaders & wonder if after I cut the old hook off & recrimp a new hook will it be to short? Mainly using the prefab ones that have the Y with the 5" spreader for the weight & about 10" to the hook.
Would it be better to start over & get a longer leader or does it no matter much?

It won't matter. It's what you like. Some people like real long leaders so they can grab the leader and pull the fish in the boat while the weight remains in the water... If there is bait on the hook the halibut don't care what size the leader is.
    I run a leader about 18 inches
