    Default Boat Safety Device

I have heard so many horror stories about boats.

I purchased a boat last year to take my son fishing on and am thinking about buying the Autotether (http://www.autotether.com/) for it. My son is young and I want to be assured that he is safe on board.

    Has anyone used it?

Never used it, but looks like a good idea...

First question I had is how are you going to go back and get the person with no power? It looks like there's a "reset" button on the unit, so that may address that issue.

I heard they are working on a similar unit that you can clip to an annoying passenger and if they happen to fall overboard it increses the engine's RPM's...

I really like that. I might have to pick one up for the boat.

i'm not sure how well it would work. i have a tether on my boat that the operator wears, if you pull it out it kills the engine. i think that this would be better if it set off an alarm instead of killing the boat. this way the operator knows someone is overboard and can turn the boat around to pick up the person. the tether on the operator would shut the motor down if he was the one who went overboard. just my thoughts. jeff
