Default Any vintage military rifle matches coming up?

We just had our local Annual Mauser Match down here between Homer and Anchor Point (May 17) and it was a hoot.
It was open to any military issue bolt action, with issue sights.
We had Swiss straight pulls, Swede Mausers, some M/98s variants in 8mm, a French MAS 36 and a 1895 Chilean Mauser .

It was won by an m/38 Swede Mauser. Closely followed by the 1895 Mauser in 7x57.

Are there any similar type matches coming up around South Central AK??

Don't know of any matches, but I do have a question...

do you have to wear the spikey-helmet thingie while you're shooting?

I don't recall ever seeing or hearing of such matches in the Kenai-Soldotna metroplex area. But it just takes 2 guys to get a competition started...

The Helmet is the local Kachemak Gun Club Trophy for the match.
You do have to have your photo taken wearing the helmet if you win...

I mentioned the local match a while ago when the Kenai Penn shooters tried making a news group here.. I should have just posted it here, but I was up in Anchor Town for Doctors visits / money removal...

Thanks Allen for the square and level info
