    Default River side repairs/maintenance

Well I was searching youtube looking for a video showing someone doing maintenance on a lower jet unit when I stumbled on this video. I thought it would be neat to see some photo's/video's and hear some stories about remote breakdowns and how you got things runnin again.

THIS IS NOT MY VIDEO, IT IS JUST ONE I CAME ACCROSS

I know someone who swam across the Big SU twice...once to get to his truck to go get parts(needed impellers) and again to get back. The 1st crossing was with life jacket, inflated waders and a good tight belt. While in town he found a used dry suit for the return trip. The crossing was after a pretty good overland hike from the Deheska River.

He was a pretty hard headed, I don't need no dang help type of guy. I actually heard the story from his wife as she was the one who sat with the boat for two days waiting for his return. They were far enough north that she never did see another boat during that time. At least they had plenty of food and gear for their weekend trip. She said she would have waited 2 more days for his return before starting her hike down river.

He has since left Alaska.....shortly after his divorce.
