    Default Sitka Spruce for Cabins?

    I have acess to alot of Sitka Spruce and was wondering about its suitability for cabin building?This will be a first build for me and I'll had peel my logs.

    I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be fine.

    Default Black Spruce are used here on the Yukon...

    So give it a go...the only other potential tree here is the birch...if you had your choice though I'd stick with hardwoods all the way...

    Be sure to peel your logs, let them dry, & then cure them with some sort of water stopper, as the cabin I am living in now the lower logs are crumbling apart...
