Question Memorial Day Weekend Advice ???

    Hello again everyone.

It looks like I'm going to be heading to Anchorage next week for work (for a couple weeks).....anyway, I plan on going down to the Kenai peninsula (staying in Kasilof) for Memorial Day weekend and am looking for some advice on what is happening on the fishing scene and where that time of year.

I come up there every summer for 2 weeks but it's always been late July / early August, so I'm familiar with the area, but not this time of year.

Any steelhead action happening then ?

    Any info would be appreciated.

The kings will be in the Kasilof plenty good. That is typically a couple weeks late for steelhead though. If there even is any steelhead in the Kasilof anymore.

I used to fish the Kasilof for kings in mid May and would see a steelhead or two caught once in awhile. 20 years ago.

Thanks....I'm staying right on the Kasilof, so we're good to go for that....I was wondering about elsewhere...Anchor ?...Deep Creek ?.....etc.

    Thanks.

Homer spit pond will have kings in it also.

The limit at the spit pond is two per day so you could get one at the Kasilof and another at the spit pond to make two. You cannot do it the other way around though. Unless the limit is two at the kasilof also.

Steelhead fishing is closed on Anchor, Deep Creek, and Ninilchil River as they are spawning now. King fishing will be going on at all these streams (Check regs) for days that they are open as it varies from system to system.
