Well, in typical fashion, my so called sheep hunting partner has bailed out, exactly 24 hours before we were scheduled to leave. And, unfortunately, that means my 4 wheeled transportation into an area is gone. Let's see, it was about 4 years ago I had a Pioneer Peak permit, and had a partner bail, so I guess a solo hunt is what I get again, and, now that I think about it, who needs a partner. Anyway, before I jump off on a tangent and really get fired up (not that I haven't been the last few hours), I was hoping maybe somebody with a little knowledge on access into the Chugach Mountains might be able to help me out. Obviously, as an experienced sheep hunter, not killer yet, I am not looking for anybody to tell me where to go, but I have some certain drainages in mind, and would like to know if there is a way to get across the, say, MatSu river, hypothetically speaking of course. Anyway, as a lifelong Alaskan who dreams 365 days of one day full curl glory and sustenance, any help would be beyond appreciated.
Thanks for your time, j
