    Default Crossbow?

I have rotator cuff damage and should not use a conventional bow. Is there provision in Alaska to use crossbow? I didn't see anything in the game regulations.

You can use one for a hunt where firearms are allowed, but not in an archery only area.

    Default Actually

If you have a legal disability they are legal.
You need to contact: Karen Blejwas" <karen_blejwas@fishgame.state.ak.us
She has the forms and information if you qualify. There is a bit of paperwork and something the doctor has to fill out if I am correct.

    Default Need to know basis

It is on a need to know basis. As an archery instructor for the state, I needed to know because someone asked.

    Default Clarification

I just went through this same thing..picked up the paperwork for a disabled buddy
    According to the regs:
You may NOT TAKE game by:
"Using a crossbow in a restricted weapons hunt, EXCEPT you may use a crossbow in any hunt that does not restrict weapons"
PLAIN ENGLISH (or so I'm told):
You can use a cross bow in a general hunt area where there is no specific "weapons restrictions" such if it is bow only or muzzleloader only...than you cannot use a cross bow in those areas...
    Exception:
If you email the lady Dave said, and apply for I think called "means and methods exception"...fill out the paperwork etc...with MD note
Than you can use a crossbow (if that is your means to methods exception) in a restricted area such as "bow or muzzleloader" only
Hush...hush...LOL....also the means and methods exception can allow disabled people to use motor vehicles "atv" etc in restricted areas...granted you have to have a legitimate disability qualified by an MD.
    Anyways...good luck
