    Thumbs up freighter canoes

If you're patient, you will find one. !9' Grumman freighters show up here, in the classifieds, in the newspapers, on Craig's List. One will appear.

Of the available, new sq. sterns, the best is the Osage 17' freighter. It isn't as long as the Grumman, but it is 4" wider (6" at the transom), so it may carry almost as much weight. And it's flatter bottomed than the Grumman. So it's a good, durable, H.D. motor canoe. All the plastic canoes I've seen aren't as robust or stiff as the aluminum boats - which counts under power.

    Happy hunting.

Most Old Town dealers don't stock this boat but they can order it in with a shipment if you special order it. This boat will haul a huge load and it paddles quite well. It's the largest royalex canoe built. It's a double ender so I'm not sure if it's what you had in mind.

    I hope this helps
