    Default The "No Bear" hunt

Just got back a few hours ago from our bear hunt. Even know we didn't harvest, we had an absolute blast! Pictures never show the real story or work involved. Wish we had a little more time. Getting there was TRULY the fun! Here was camp, home sweet home.

Here's twenty mile's into the hunt.

Some bear country with no sign.

We even tried ice fishing but the ice was a little thicker then we planned.

Did see LOTS of wolverine sign though (yes Alaskan, I had to ask Takotna IF this was a wolverine track).

    A shot of a couple of hunter's.

    Lunch time!

Guess how many moose in the pic.

Going home is always a sad day.

After 450 miles by truck and 200 miles on a snowmachine, we can say we gave it our all. Late spring hurt us!

Oh yeah, even brought one of those sled heads with us to just go up and wake the bears up. Folks, hard to show how really high on the mountain this guy went.

Heres the bottem half of the loop.

    They call him "Bad Element"!

Sounds like a good time! Too bad you didn't even see a bear. I'm going to guess there are three moose in the picture.

You guys are good! There are three moose in the pic.
We talked with everyone we came across(including a trooper) and no bear sign. The trooper said only two bears have been killed, both south of Cantwell. One on the 15th and one on the 19th.

Great pics. Maybe that "sled head" your refering to was my son. He bouhgt a new 1000cc Bombardier w 3"paddles, loves to avalanche run, drives his mother crazy. Anyhow, going to Dillingham area next weeek hope I'm not in for that much snow? Anyone heard how it is down around the Bristol Bay area? Hoping the rivers are going to be open?
    Any info is appreciated.

Thats disappointing, we were down there this weekend and really thought yalls camp would come back with something. You guys were really covering some ground. Did yall run into anything other then moose and caribou? Thats all we saw down there. Well better luck on the next trip and thanks for the awsome pics!!

I'm surprised there are any bears up at all in that area. Here in the FBX area, the average Spring alarm clock for bears rings on the 8th of May for blacks, a week later for grizzly. It's too early for bear up here although there may be a couple up and about already.

    Thanks for the pix.
