    Default Eklutna Trailrace

Stopped by Eklutna Trailrace today. The water was extremely clear. No sign of anything moving. Has anyone been out to check on the Little Sue or other rivers yet?

For salmon? If so, way too early. Little Su is probably still covered by ice.

Dont want to try for silvers?

Andy couch got one there this time last year. He is trying to be the first to document a Mat-su King in April. I have never been a fan but I wish him luck.

Willow and the little Su are still fairly well iced over although the lower stretches are starting to open up. Water levels were really low for this time of year but that's better than another flood. Don't expect much to start happening in the valley for a few more weeks.

PS still ice fishing to be done

    Default Little SU

Just floated the Little Su above the Parks Highway on Saturday and Sunday. Using a 14' aluminum boat, we started at Schrock Road and pulled out at a gravel pit off King Arthur. As others indicated, water is extremely low and clear and we had to cut some trees and ice bridges on Saturday, as well as make a few short portages. Somebody beat us to the beaver this Spring! kEEP YOUR LINES TIGHT AND GOOD LUCK THIS SEASON.
