    Default Some halibuts

Does anyone know about what depth halibut are at right now? I know they go pretty deep during winter but maybe they are coming up I don't know. Planning on fishing about 250 ft of water.

I've caught them in about 120 feet in march. I'd suspect the usual spots will give up dinner sized butts, no idea where the big ones might be though
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.

Thanks. Im not looking for trophies, just some dinner and action. Have several trips to Homer planned to take care of that chore

Right now anywhere from 120 to 300 is where you will find them.

I fish in about 20 fathoms give or take, and usually don't do well until about the end of May.
    Now what ?

about 2 weeks ago we had a seasonal get a 175 lber in about 40 fathoms. This was out by Twin Bays, at the end of Elrington passage. Got an 80 and 2 50's from the same spot too, all in 2 trips. According to the tide book that big one was supposed to be almost 225, but we weighed it on a scale.
