Do a search here and you will become a master at shrimping before you ever drop your first pot.

    But here you go.

    1. Look for rocky place on the bottom.
    2. Shrimp deep. usually anything 400 feet and shallower you tend to get or creatures in the pot. I stick with around 600 and have not picked anything up beside shrimp.
    3. be willing to try new areas.
    4. When trying new areas I leave a pot there for about an hour or two to see if it's a good spot. if not move on.
    5. Make sure you leave enough rope out. if not the current and tide will take your pot away..

I'd look for places where lots of salmon tend to die and get flushed out into deeper water (pink streams with deep water adjacent)

I haven't done that much shrimping though
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.

Try them all until you find the right depth and area. For my on average I will get around 50 per pot on a 4 hour soak. Best ever was 400 on a 4 hour soak. Just one of those day.

    Thumbs up Pots

Don't get the cheap pots either. PotBuilder in Whittier builds great pots and can also help you find "your" secret shrimping grounds. You can't go wrong with his pots.
