Default Raft for recommendations for Talachulitna

Two guys doing a rafting/fishing trip for a week on the Tal in July. Recommend a self bailer or cataraft? Who would you rent from in Anchorage?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Default Rafts

I'd consider a self-bailer in the 13' - 14' range. Great boats that give you more comfort and added weight carrying capacity. Check out Alaska Raft & Kayak for rental prices.

    Default 14' Otter

Did the Tal last summer with 3 guys and a 14' otter. Very comfortable, plenty of room. I think the self-bailer drafts a little less water than the Cats do.... that might be important depending on how much water is in the Creek.

    Cheers,

I ran it in a 15 ft. cat with double tubes. Good flotation in the extremely low water but I would have preferred a single tube cat for fewer rock hangups.

If you use a traditional style raft, DEFINITELY go with a self bailer. The 14' recommendation sounds right.

    Default Yep Yep

13ft or 14ft Otter will work Alaska Raft and Kayak location for rental.

Might consider the 13ft Otter more than the 14ft Otter. Less weight and still get sthe job done.

    Best wishes!
