no, not until I looked down and saw water at my feet...lol...once we noticed that, we just boogied back to the truck...my first thought was that we punched a hole in the bottom or busted a weld.....

....the boat did feel just a little bit sluggish too... I guess a boat full of water will do that...

What river????? I can't view youtube on my work computer! I am itching to get out, heck even take the tarp off the boat. I figure if I take off the tarp it will snow a foot! But it would be fun to get out on the water.

Looks like most of us have a "Computer Nazi" running the server at our work.

Go figure...The gov't won't let you look at youtube....But it's O.K. for managers and supervisors to surf porn instead. Well, that's the Govt for ya.

I'll have to view it at home when I get a chance.

Still about another month out here in the interior, we are getting there if the 40+ degree weather will hold out. I'm going to unwrap the boat this weekend and put abunch of goodies on her that I've bought throughout the winter.

Knik River...the lower river has been open for quite some time now from the tailrace down, just no place to launch the boat....you can now run from the old glen bridge up river, only about a mile of open water though...not too much area but still fun...if you go just be careful because your wake will bust loose a lot of ice slabs....don't go if your not wanting to hit a few...(err, I mean a lot..lol)
....if you do go drop me a line, I'll bring the camera...

I saw 3 airboats launching down stream of the Knik River bridge. Getting the itch to get the boat in the water after seeing that! We are still a month away for sure!

Great Video! Looks like you ran down to the Glen Hwy bridge. It also looked like you could get a boat in at the bridge, reading the post above I might be able to get out and run.

Might be fun to get a group together for an early season shake out! (plus more help if something goes wrong!)

group run sounds like fun to me...we put in at the old glenn....glenn hwy bridge wasn't doable with a jetboat as of yesterday...river is wide open just can't get the boat in...it was 46 as I crossed the bridge today so it won't be long...I'm sure we could take a chainsaw down and make a path if you're really itching to go...lol..

I have never put in at the old glenn, might be fun. I have only put in at the main Glenn Hwy bridge (furthers down river). I usually refer to it as the Knik river bridge. I am game for anything, just have to find time between kids soccer practices on the weekends as well as I need a little more snow to melt in front of my gate! I really don't want to shovel, but if I need to I will!

Did I hear that someone is making a stomp grate for outboards? Does anyone know?

  20. #20

    Default Karold's Welding - Fairbanks

They made me an outboard stomp grate for my 150 HP OBJ.
Fit very nicely. Cost $258 last year.
Only thing I don't like is when the grate is tilted down the rocks rest on the rear angle member that makes the back of the grate frame instead of having a free path to fall all the way out.
