Thread: I Got A Wolf!

  1. #1

    Default I Got A Wolf!

My first trapping season has been filled with peaks and valleys. There was a point when I was so discouraged I planned to pull all of my snares, but that day I catch a coyote. That was my first predator. Well, I didn't pull my snares and added a few more in a different location.

Yesterday I checked them again, as I do almost every weekend. One of my snares was missing, and the drag was gone too. The wolf ran through the snare, setup for a coyote, ran down the hill and almost made it out of the woods until he changed his course and wrapped himself around an alder tree. I've talked about catching a wolf, but I never imagined it would actually happen.

What a season! I caught my first coyote and wolf. Tomorrow all the snares are coming home and I'm calling it a season.

I'll post a picture later today.

Man, that is excellent news! When it rains, it pours, eh? I've heard the same thing from some other friends - their first season or two were filled with frustration, but once they caught their first critter things just seemed to get easier and easier. Congratulations, and let's see that picture!

Thanks guys. I'm very fortunate that numerous people helped me with this endevor. I really believe this season wouldn't have turned out as fruitful without the help I received from a handful of very generous people.

Sometime this week I hope to seal him then take him to the taxi to get rugged.
