    Default Reeve's Field Trailhead/Nabesna River

Thinking of trying to cross the river at the end of this ATV trail. Anybody have knowledge of what this river looks like in August? Trying to access the mountains on the other side of the river. Is it doable? Will I need a raft, or is it braided enough to wear hip waders and cross at intervals? Thanks for any info.

crossed the river in that area several times with horses back in the 70's- swimming water in places for the horses. Definitely not for hip boots. Probably doable with a raft- float a channel, pack the bar ,float again, etc. Don't they run the wilderness classic through this area at times? Seems to me some of these crazy guys use alpaca rafts to get across the nabesna and chisana.

    Smile Thanks Gunner

I had never heard of the Wilderness Classic. Had to look it up, pretty neat. Thanks for the info. I'll cross and hunt the other side, hopefully getting away from some people.

    Default channels

Normally you will have at least 5 hard flowing channels to cross. Last year, had more and they were all the way across the river bottom, so if you were rafting, you had your work cut out to float/cross, pack raft to next one, float/cross, etc. PM me for more info. I go up there every year and know the river pretty well and the sheep up there, specifically where you want to go.
