    Default 7mm08 akley improved

    Hi All
Has anybody used this for sheep hunting and if so how do you like it?
What kind of velocity are you getting
The reason I'm asking is I have a 7mm08, but I feel the cartridge could use a little help ( maybe I need the help ) I would like to get a light weight rifle for packing up the mountains and don't want a magnum cartridge--I don't do recoil really well
    Maybe a different caliber???
Any thoughts or ideas are all welcome
    Thanks
    Eric

Could use some help in what regard?

The 7-08 is a great sheep round, fits in a mid action, and very accurate. 120-140 grain bullets are about right. A nosler 120 loaded up to max with IMR 4350 is a nice flat shooting combo.

Hey Sako1, I was thinking about a little bit extra velocity for that one time that I might need to reach out a bit further, say 350 or more yds on that once in a life time ram or goat.
Was just curios to know if the Ackley was worth it or not.
Don't get me wrong I do like that 7-08, taken Elk,deer and moose with it, all at reasonably close range, 150 yds and under
I've tried to find ballistics for the 7-08 Ackley but can't seem to find any, people tell me it usually adds about 100 to 150 fps to the parent cartridge, would you know if that would be true
    Thanks
    Eric
