Default How Early Can We Hit the Kenai?

Yes...the days are getting longer and that "urge"...is almost out of control! How early can we hit the Kenai for bows? I haven't been down that way in the spring for many, many years ....but hope to change that this year

funny you should ask. Talked to a buddy in eagle river yesterday. They were done there a week or so ago now. Didnt catch anything, sounds like it's sloooow, but there are a few fish being caught. Sounds like most of the fish are being caught through the ice is what he was saying. Was all the details I bothered to get from him. I do know he was on the outlet end of skilak.

Don't fish for the spawners in the middle river please.
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.

It is about time Im glad the closed it.

Priestmaker. Late august early september for bows on the kenai is great timing. You should have a great time and catch fishes for sure. The wife and I float it from about mid august through the 2nd week of october for them and have had very very good success. Your timing should be right on in my opinion.

    Default Heading that way---

We are going to fish the upper on Sunday. I sold my 16ft Willie and bought and 18' and want to dump it to make sure she floats. Heading over today to see what kind of volume there is and decide whether we will float down and fish, or simply hang around the bridge.
