    Default hidden creek questions

Has anyone here hunted the Hidden creek area north of McCarthy for goats? How is the terrain? What is the goat population like from your observations? I understand if you don't want to give info out on your favorite hunting area, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Send me a PM if you like. Thanks for any info you wish to share with me.

I am going to give this a bump. I was wondering the same thing. Anybody? I know the sheep get picked off quickly, but I am going to hunt this area in mid October 2008 for goats. Mountainhunter, when are you hunting this area? Are there better areas to go into for RG580?

I was just looking for some info a few months back. This looked like a pretty good fairly inexpensive hunt. (I have a limited budget). I have been trying to put together a goat hunt for the last couple of years. No success with the draw so I figured this year I better come up with a new plan. This was just one of the areas I was considering. I decided to just save my pennies, and fly in somewhere. This will be my first goat hunt so I am pretty stoked. I hope I am successful, but if not I'm sure I will enjoy my time off work in the mountains. Good luck on planning your hunt Mr. Grayling. whether you kill something or not I hope you find a place to play this fall.

    Default Hidden Creek

There are goats in there, almost all of them are in places you cant get to. We saw a dozen or so goats but there was no way to get to them, our party took one goat. We went in Mid Sept, it was the very last time frame Wrangell Mt Air would take us in. Who is taking you in there that late? Gary Green of McCarthy Air will not fly to Hidden Crk. Also keep in mind that Wrangell Mt Air charges a back haul for any game taken. No more than 60lbs going in and the same coming out. So if you shoot something you will pay for an extra trip for your goat. There is a little A-Frame shack there that works well as a base camp. Take hip boots and walk up the creek, dont try to side hill, too many alders and gullies

    Default Walking

I am going to walk into the area in mid October along the Kennicott Glacier. I have my work cutout for me, I was wondering if a goat was possible. The snow will hopefully push them from the usually hard to get places. If you don't mind me asking, in what vacinity did you harvest your goat, akhunter02? You can PM if you want too! Thanks

    Default Dang!!!

walking in? Your the MAN!! we thought about that but once you see that area from the air you will think twice. Then trying to pack back out with a goat, not a trip Id want to make once let alone twice. Not sure how you would make the corner up into Hidden creek
