    Cool extractor

Can anyone tell me how to tell if a win mod 70 has a big claw extractor?

The claw extractor is the long piece attached to the side of the bolt that holds the base of the as it feeds or until it is ejected.
If you Win doesnt have it then it is considered a push feed action. The one's with the claw extractors are generally called "Classics".

My buddy has a "Classic" in a push feed Snowolfe so that is not entirely true. This particular rifle is a Win 70 Classic in the push feed bolt type action in a 25-06 caliber. Has the schnable forend and the same checkering.

whiteraven, the "claw" is along the bolt and attached with a collar behind the face of the bolt. The extractor or "claw" is that which grabs the head of the case and controls the round as it is fed from the magazine and chambers it, also pulls the fired brass from the chamber after firing-hence "controlled-fed".

It is a superb design by Paul Mauser himself. Can't mistake the "claw"

    Default mod 70 CLASSIC bolt

    here a pic of one.

Now as far as I know a mod 70 is not a classic unless it has a CRF bolt.

I may have to also say classic generally means CRF as I am not 100% positive.

I do know I have never seen a mod 70 classic that was not CRF.

    I am a Mod 70 nut.
