I came down from Shell Lake yesterday, lots of water on top of the ice above the Kahiltna. Trail has not lock up yet, but when it does it will be rough. I would wait on the possible colder temp later in the week. There are areas of 400 to 600 yards of wet mushy snow right now.

Rivers are good but hard. Need scratchers to keep your hi fax wet and cool. But you can haul anything right now!

    Default Rivers in excellent shape

Just hauled a few loads in with the 6 wheeler and trailer down the Su and up the deshka, it's excellent right now. Warm temps in the afternoon.
Good luck this weekend and be careful there's alot of traffic out there.

Was up near Hewitt Lake this weekend. No overflow and just enough loose snow to keep the slides lubed and the motors cool. Read the river and stay off the main trail. It's much smoother when you are on the ice. No powder left and everything was hard a concrete.

I went up to Mile 6 on Sunday (3/30) and the trail was still in great shape at that time. A few new humps and heaves here and there, but overall it was as good as it has been all year. We didn't have any problems with overflow, but it has been pretty warm this last week....

    Good Luck!

    Default made it back

trip up river fri was really wet. lots of water on top of the ice. on the way back out yesterday the slush was set up. but the ice bridge at lake creek is gone now, so you now have 2 places you have to cross open leads of the river. going down river it's ok cause its flat before the water and then a snowbank, but going upriver you are going to have to come off the bank, drop into the water and skip across.

Up to bulchitna lake past McDougals on 4/18 with member polarisblake. River was rock solid, only one open lead from Lake Creek. River was smooth and in some of the best conditions we'd seen and no overflow anywhere. Lots of people still freighting when we were out so a couple more great days for river travel to be had...
