Hello, I was just sstopping by before i make a possible trip down the canyons in the second week of march. Ive never done real well on the kenai for trout though i do catch them. Just looking for a few tips on fly and tackle. Ive seen guides backtrolling little plugs but i have never done it. any thoughts??? Vance

Might call Troutfitters and ask Billy or Dusty about water levels and ice conditions....Lotsa shade in that canyon......

For gear, ya might pull hotshots....Tho' I think your better off with either a good smolt pattern, or even a really bleached out lookin flesh fly......Of course a green egg suckin leach is never a bad thing below the canyon either.....

    Good Luck....

It's to early in the year to float that Stretch of the river, how are you going to get your boat out when you reach the frozen lake.?

hahahahaha now thats funny but so true I never even gave that a thought. Maybe a helicopter, or maybe de-flate it and pack it up the trail? Those are my only answers
