    Question Yote hide

Gonna go for yote this weekend for the first time and if luck prevails and we're successfull was wondering about preserving the hide. I have heard you skin out a yote basically like a bear. If not, what do I need to know that is different? After skinning is it ok to store the hide for awhile in the freezer? any info would be helpfull.

Depends on what you want with the hide. If you want a rug like a bear then if you skin it like a bear you will be on your way. If you want to stretch and tan it or sell it then check out these instructions for case skinning and stretching the hide: www.huntertradingpost.com

If you are going to freeze it after skining, Do the fur side out tug legs in middle of body and roll from nose to tail , If you have a vacuum sealer use that if not zip lock bag just try to squeeze all the air out. It will last a long time.

skinning is the same as a bear but depends on what you want to do with it if you just want to hang it after tanned,Just do the cut across the back legs and pull down

I would say you should case skin it and stretch it like most other furbearers. That way you could split it later for rugging or ruffs or whatever.

Oops, just saw that LuJ said the same thing...
