    Default Quick Release Mounts Recomendations

Thanks to all who shared their opinions on scopes for my Browning BLR 300 Win Mag. I ordered a Zeiss 2.5-8x32 from Doug.
I have 2 final questions to finish out this rifle. First I enjoy shooting iron sights as much as possible and would like to order quick release mounts for my scope. Any suggestions for a quick release that remains accurate when the scope is remounted on the rifle.

Second I have read quite a bit that suggests you should have a gunsmith mount the scope lest you pinch the tube. Any truthfulness to this???

    Thanks

I've used either Warne QD's and Leupold QRW's on most of my rifles and they both perform well. Either one returns to zero with no problems. There's really no need to have a smith mount a scope if you take a little bit of care. I've mounted dozens of scopes over the past 35+ years and have yet to "pinch the tube."

    Default Leupold QRW's

I had Leupold QRW's on my savage 338 WM and after about 2 season they would not hold a zero because they would vibrate lose. I would not buy them unless they have been improved.

Hmmmm, not sure what's up with that. I have a set on a .450 Marlin and haven't had any problems.

    Default leupold LX

I just bought the new mounting system and was stupid enough not to ask "How much?" It will try to break the bank!!! There was some srewups and I got it for 10% over cost I'm suppose to be getting my 375 H&H back from the gunsmith this week and will be testing it out. It suppose to be exact zero replacement.

    +3.

I just put a set on my 338WM the other day and went out to the range and shot 30 rounds alternating between irons and the scope and everytime I put the scope back on and shot, the POI was the same. I was impressed to put it mildly as I have always been skeptical of QD and changing POI's. I am a believer now.
