    Default Another clearcoat/ stain question...

I want to stain and gloss my log cabin this year, but I can't get straight answer to a simple question: Can I spray stain and gloss over the chink, or do I need to mask it off? I don't care if the chink gets discolored, I just don't want the stain & gloss to chip or peel off of the chink once its on. Anyone know?

i cant tell you if it is "approved" by the manufacturers but i applied stain over chinking on my cabin 3 years ago and aside from giving it some extra color it doesnt appear to have harmed it. the stain is cabots and the chinking is perma chink.

Default Call the person who built your cabin

he deals with Perma-Chink as a dealer, he should be able to help you. If you bought the cabin from someone else who had it built I know the person who built it PM me and I'll send you his #. He finished his cabins after they were chinked and he told me I could do mine that way also. Don't know if this helps but it was worth a shot.

You sure can the chink will last much much longer then any stain or oil you uses.
