Default 2008 Alaskan Hunting Photo Gallery

After seeing photos of two musk ox taken in the last week, it's apparent that it's time to start the new photo gallery. (I won't accidentally delete it this time - I promise! )

    Same guidelines as usual:

Photos and short hunt descriptions only. - Please, if you want to congratulate a hunter or ask questions, do so in a seperate thread or via the PM system.

Alaskan hunts only - Please feel free to share your photos from other states/countries in the Out and About forum.

    2008 hunts only

This is one of my favorite features of the site, as I love seeing the collection build throughout the year and the transition from one set of species to another. Our late winter moose, bison and musk ox...leading to the spring bear...and then into sheep and caribou...and back to moose, goat, bears, and more. Let's get this new collection started!

Got this one on the last day of bear camp (may 8) up out of Tok. Shot it at about 80 yards and he dropped on his snotlocker like a ton of bricks. We were laughing having a good ole time then it stood up, thrashed around a bit and came at us. About 30 yards from us, he cut to our left and through the trees I was able to spine him and he finally agreed that he was dead.

6 Foot Squared. This is by far the skinniest bear I have ever seen. The winter did not treat him well at all. He had no fat and nearly no muscle.

7.5 foot squared Admiralty Island brownie. Probably the ugliest, stinkiest bear on the island, but I wanted one with the bow. Shot her one time from 10 yards with my Mathews Switchback XT and 4 blade slick trick broadhead. Full pass through and the bear made it about 30 yards before piling up.

    Default SE Alaska Bear Hunt

Back from a four day hunt looking for brown and blacks, between three of us we got two blacks and a brown. After shooting a decent black and passing a few more bear I settled on a nice colored and very thick hair brown. Got to try out my new boat and motor, all equipment performed great and it was good to get out with a couple of new to Alaska hunters and away from work. What a great state we live in, and yes that is a scope bite ;-)

Thumbs up 10 year old's first black bear

a real trophy for a little girl. her excitement continued from the time she saw and shot the bear, until she provided for the family dinner a delicious bear steak and bear bbq ribs dinner.
