    Default White Moose

Yes there are regulations on shooting white moose in parts of the state. Check the regs to find out adzactly where.

I do not think they are all albino, some of them are just white. There was a rather in-depth thread on here some time ago about the white moose around Eilson.

    Default Can't shoot him

You can't shoot it. You would have to shoot across the border into Canada. Since that is where it is from.

    Default Albino

Although some are not true albino I think the one in the pic you posted IS albino - it looks to even have the pink eyes.

Some native cultures consider albino moose to be sacred. If for no other reason than that, I would be hesitant to pull the trigger even if legal.

That is a really cool picture. Did you take that in the Eagle River area. If so I might have to keep my camera handy.

That one looks like a true albino, take note of the pink color eyes, its not a piebald. What a beautiful animal indeed!!

theres a piebald bull moose in the Moose lodge in Fairbanks!

    Default Piebald Deer

Hijacking the thread a bit, but, I had a 75 yard, broadside, standing still shot at a piebald deer this year. All white except it's head, part of the neck and a soccer sized spot on the front shoulder. It never occurred to me to shoot it. To me it was sort of a sacred thing. Wish I had my camera though. It is legal to shoot here.

This was the last evening of Muzzleload season, so I know he made it through. Still has to cope with cars and coyotes, etc. until next year. If he/she shows up next year, not sure if I will respond the same or not.

How do you all feel about shooting a piebald, if it were legal?

Nothing wrong with that when I lived in S.C in 5 years I shot 4 and many others were also taken out of the area. With a 6 month deer season and no limit where I lived. Deer where very , very plentiful. More Piebald where shot than Albino.

    Default Down kenai

There are several of these piebald moose hanging out down in Kenai also, there is always a cow or two on K-beach in the fall that I see. I haven't seen a bull with any white yet, nor have i seen one of her calves with white on it but there are some down there. The one cow is really cool lookking most of the white is on the rear so it looks sort of like an appaloosa horse.

They are to be shot and taken out of the Gene Pool. Bad Medicine in store for those that let them walk.
