    Thumbs up ...communications thread...

With the many methods of communicating in Alaska, a thread dedicated to questions about these varied methods would be great for us new guys venturing into your great state for the first time.

There are many Alaska specific issues with communications, including permits for VHF bands by non-ham users, satellite phones and rentals, ham radio frequencies, VHF/UHF repeaters and locations, air and marine bands, HF propagation and recommended bands, and of course - questions about the dedicated and continuously monitored Alaska Emergency Frequency.

So, how about it?! An Alaska Communications thread/forum/topic thingy...

At this point, most of the VHF and Sat phone conversations are discussed in the outdoors survival and emergency care forum. I know that may not be the appropriate place for Ham radio operators, however.

    Default ...I'll try...

I'll try the outdoor and emergency forum, but that's not necessarily one that a ham would frequent. There are a lot of communication threads in the outdoor and emergency forum. There's just no ham radio specific information.

    Anyway, thanks for considering it.
