    Anyone who is certified.

An added bonus of the CCW training is you can use this to get your card. With that, when you want to buy a firearm, you show the clerk the card: no NCIS check.

I believe that the No NCIS check is not offered with the ccw anymore. Everyone has to get the NCIS check but i could be wrong.

ive never attended one of their classes but Alaska Tactical in Anchorage has been in business for quite awhile. They must be doing something right.

Yes, you are wrong. Look over a 4473, second page.

I heard that the state repealed that effective Jan 1, 2008? Anybody have the answer?

The 4473 is a federal BATFE form, so the state has no power over it.

I do not see anything at the online Alaska Statutes that shows any changes to the concealed carry permit laws. Granted, something new may not have been posted yet. The *optional* CCW license still requires the FBI background check, which is why you are exempted from the instant check for a gun purchase. The CCW is proof you've already passed (at least at the time the license was issued).

Alaska Tactical is in anchorage. It's on muldoon rd about a mile off of the highway.

    Default AK Tactical

Alaska Tactical is the place we always recommend. Steve McDaniels is very qualified. I don't know if he is still doing it, but I believe he was an instructor at Gunsite.
Okay, All new CCWs will NOT be NICS Exempt. The state said the Feds were responsible, but we checked a number of other states and the Feds are fine with it. This has been happening on renewals and new CCW cards for over a year here in AK.

Yes, 4473 does say so. Apples and oranges though.

.... SOA will not issue a NICS Exempt stamped CCW anymore. DOPS blames the FEDS, costs of processing prints, etc, etc.

I can recommend Steve at Alaska Tactical as well. I hired him to do a tactical shotgun class a few years ago, very professional.

MatSu Valley sportsman range may have some recommendations as well for the Valley connections. Give them a call.
