    Default Trip suggestions for reds/trout

I was looking for some suggestions or tips for a fly in trip for reds and rainbows. I will be in Alaska 7-14 thru 7-23. Thanks in advance!

The Illiamna area should be perfect for reds and rainbows given your timing. I don't have any specific recommendations, but last year around July 10th-17th we made three trips out to the Newhalen River in Illiamna and had a crazy time with the reds. We didn't target rainbows, but the region is world famous for its rainbows both in size and numbers.

I'll be in iliamna all summer for work. If I have internet then I'd be glad to post when the fish come in.
It might not help you much I imagin you will have to have plans in place before hand. On the positive side if you are a little late for the salmon the trout fishing will still be good.

Illiamna Air Taxi flies direct from Anchorage International to Illiamna. Great people, too.

    Default King Salmon

Reds should be good on the naknek river out of King Salmon. Daily flights out of anchorage. I was there during that time in 2007 and the fishing was great. We fished one day with guide and the rest on our own at lake camp.
    Good Luck
