Default New Kenai River Horsepower Regs Signed

New Kenai River horsepower regs have been signed, will take effect in March. The only change from the original proposal is the date at which all two stroke motors will be banned, which will no longer take place in 2009-2010. Public comment will be re-opened on this topic. Thanks to everyone who supported this, it's a step in the right direction for the resource.

My understanding is 2 strokes will be banned in the month of July. There is no date set for the banning of two stroke motors year round. This of course excludes Direct Fuel Injected two strokes. There will be another public comment period to try to decide when that will take place.

    has his fact in order.

If you want to operate a powerboat upstream of the Warren Ames Bridge on the Kenai in July, you need a 4-stroke or 2-stroke Direct Fuel Injection (not oil injection) engine less than or equal to 50 HP.
