Somewhere I heard or read about "breaking in" the barrel of a new rifle. So, what is this and how do you do it? I have never done this, but I have a new Tikka T3 338wm and want to trat it right.
There are some ideas on page 3 of this forum
hope this helps,
Breaking in a new barrel
Seen this on Guns and Ammo.
Clean all the grease and residue from your new gun
Run a swab, with bore cleaner/solvent through your barrel
Fire your rifle.
Run a swab with solvent through your barrel again.
Repeat this step after each firing up to 10 firings.
Then fire your rifle 3 times.
Run a swab with solvent through your barrel.
Then fire your rifle 5 times
Run a swab soaked in solvent through your barrel
Now fire your rifle 10 times.
Run a swab soaked in solvent through your barrel.
You are done.
