Default ice fishing field trip to Jewel Lake w/ fish & game

I'm taking my students to Jewel Lake on Monday for a field trip to do some ice fishing. Most of these kids have never been fishing before. Fish and Game is awsome. They provide all the gear for the students. I just bring the bait and coolers. Hopefully the kids will catch a ton of fish. Has anyone been out on that lake lately? Looking for any reports that might help the kids increase their chances.

pj - How did you set that up? I've heard of F&G doing this before, and it sounds like a great program. My wife teaches 2nd grade and would love to take her kids out fishing. Any ideas on how to make this happen?

When "Fishman" Fritz Klaus was in charge they had an ice fishing day and kids from the King Career Center would help out, the kids had about 100 holes drilled and kids from ASD would come out an hour at a time all day long. Everything was provided, all the kids had to do was show up. They may have already done this program for the year. I am not sure how they are running the program now that Fritz has retired.

    Default same program

Same set up as when Fritz was in charge. Send me PM and I'll send you all contact names and phone numbers. It's a great program.

Took my son there last saturday, I think he caught about 8 or so in about a hour then it slowed down and I think he caught 2 or 3 more the next hour. He was using barbless hooks and balls of fire, we released all of them so hopefully you and your class will have good luck. By the way they all about 8 to 10 inches .
