Thread: Draw permit issue

    Default Draw permit issue

OK, most everyone knows by now that I drew the DB470 brown bear permit. Hunt start date was the 1st but I haven't received my permit yet. Now I know the bears are hibernating right now, or should be, but shouldn't I have still received it by now? Anyone have a # I can call, I tried the Anchorage # but it was no help at all.

    Default my buddy

had the same problem this past year, we drew kodiak goats but he never received his permit. He finally went to Fish and Game and they printed one for him. No problem

Since you can get permits online and print them out I wonder if fish and game could just e-mail it to you?

Default Same thing happened to me...

Usually they wait to mail it out closer to the actual "hunting time" start date due to not having to re-issue so many "lost permits" by people if they sent them out now... I don't know, that's what they told me...

They will not e-mail a permit to you and nobody can pick it up for you either. You will have to go in yourself and show ID before they will print the permit for you.

Hey, if I'm available and you need a hunting partner give me a call. I need to return that fishing pole anyways.

Thanks for volunteering James, I could have quite the pack string of hunters going on this hunt if everybody that volunteered to go actually went! I'll be doing flyover starting in March but really will be weather dependant. Wifes gone first part of May so i'll be hitting it especially hard that week.
450Hunter, all the tags i've drawn in the past were mailed to me, why do I have to go pick this one?

I think that you have to pick the pemit up in person at the Kodiak Fish and Game office. If I remember right they might have a orientation that you have to attend also. Not 100% sure on the orientation.

Thats not a Kodiak permit, it's for the Chugach mountains. I think I had better call them to find out whats up.

I drew a permit and they never mailed it to me or it was lost in the mail system. That is why I said something about having to pick it up in person. They would not mail me another permit. I just ADF&G here in Fairbanks and they looked it up in the computer and told me to stop in and they would me one on the spot. The same counter that you can buy your hunting/fishing license at.

I've got F&G working on it, now that I think about it I did receive a letter stating that I would get my permit a week before the hunt actually starts, which was Jan 1 2008.

Looks like the 2 other permitee's got theirs but I didn't so they are mailing me a new one. Glad I got that figured out.

I'd just like to note that I am insanely jealous that you pulled this permit. Man...that has the potential to be a great hunt. Good luck!

Thanks Brian, I may never draw this one again and to be one of the first in a very long time to be able to hunt brown bears in my back yard is a real thrill, i'm stoked to say the least. I've got big plans for this hunt and lots of scouting on the agenda. I've had pretty good luck drawing brown bear tags but cannot seem to get that elusive TOK or DMA sheep tags.....but i'll keep trying.
