    Default Post elsewhere...

You may consider posting this under the fishing or hunting forum. You may not get any responses here. You may not get any on the other forums either for that matter. I tried a few months back and remember getting very little info. Found it the hard way.

    Default Foating the Wulik

Not a demanding float in terms of rafting/kayaking/canoeing skill levels... mostly shallows/riffles meandering a good gravel riverbed into numerous outstanding Char pools.

More or less depends on your put in and take out spots... travel light, use good gear, then you'll enjoy having several options with fewer difficulties on logistics.

    Default Know it well

I grew up working for a lodge on the river as a guide. It is nice country, but the reality of a float fish/hunt is not the best option. It changes a lot from year to year and if there is rain it goes to a flood in 12 hrs due to the permafrost. PM me if you want any info, but there are better options for rivers that have better water etc. good luck

If you have an inflatable canoe you can start Just downstream of RDM, good luck gaining access though.

    Question Just downstream of RDM

    "Just downstream of RDM"

Where (and why) would you say to put in downstream of the mine. The river is a long ways from the mine. Are you talking about Tatuk or Ikalukruk Creeks, then floating to the Wulik? Not understanding your logic.

My Mom and Stepdad own Midnight Sun Lodge on the Wulik River. They homesteaded on the Wulik about 35 years ago. look up Phil Driver in the Anchorage phone book they can tell you all about that river and others in the area. As well as access information.
