    Exclamation Guide Fees?

    Help!
I am trying to look for the different guide fees that are due today (12.31.07) on the Alaska Division of Corportions, Businesses, and Professional Licensing site:
    http://www.dced.state.ak.us/occ/pgui.htm
I see where to send it, but I don't know for how much?
It needs to be postmarked by today as well.

Thanks in advanced for your help!

Why not call them up and ask? Call one of the state offices there in Fairbanks and ask them to look it up in their state phone directory if the # isn't at the web site. Better to get this kind of info from the horse's mouth than you bet your future on web posts.

When you call, it goes to a recording.
When you email, you receive an automated response that says, "We will attend to your needs within 48 business hours."

I am not hot on lame excuses, but it was my responsbility to send it in for said husband months ago. Now... after 2 weeks in the lower 48 and 6 days of being bedridden due to ailment, I am finally trying my darnest to locate his information and send it in for him... on the last day.
I don't want to send in his assistant guide paperwork, but his registered guide paperwork and fees.

    Default Grace period

I am thinking you are talking about the license renewal fees.

I know you want to get this done by today; but to explain...... the "no grace period" notice on the renewal form only means that if you're husband had a guided hunt to do after 12/31........there is no grace period.

The Effective date of the renewal is the day the dept files the completed application.........

You have up to 4 years to renew the license.

The amount to send should be on the renewal form/notice your husband received in November.

    Hello CO-

    Here's the lowdown:

    __________________________________________________
    Master Guide-Outfitter License Number 1 through 170, Registered Guide-Outfitter License Number 1 through 1246:

Resident Master or Registered Guide-Outfitter License- $450
    Non-Resident Master or Registered Guide-Outfitter License- $900

    __________________________________________________
Master Guide-Outfitter License Number 171 and up, Registered Guide-Outfitter License Number 1247 and up:

Resident Master or Registered Guide-Outfitter License- $225
    Non-Resident Master or Registered Guide-Outfitter License- $450

    __________________________________________________
The difference between the two rates is due to the fact that Master Guides above #170 and Registered Guides above #1246 have already paid half the fees because they renewed in mid-term.

Here's the link to the form you need: http://www.commerce.state.ak.us/occ/pub/gui4211.pdf

Here's the main link to the license renewal page: http://www.commerce.state.ak.us/occ/pgui4.htm

They should have sent this information to you in a packet, which includes some new hunt contracts and other related documents. If you have not received those materials, you should probably call the state of Alaska after the holiday.

    Hope it helps!

    Default ...increased guide license costs...

The increased cost of our guide licenses goes directly into the funding of the BGCSB.

Oh my goodness... thank you all SOOOOO much!
My husband found the necessary forms online and we had a huge fiasco this afternoon.
    He finds the forms.
We save it to his laptop.
I save it to my external harddrive. Wouldn't a jump drive just be easier?
We run downstairs to my computer that has the printer.
The computer wouldn't boot for 30 minutes.
    It boots.
We hook up the external harddrive.
    We print.
He adds an additional letter. Blah blah blah... we are within 12 months of communication with the board.. blah.
The husband answers all the questions.
I write out the check, put our little address sticky on the letter, stamped, and now ready to be mailed.
He's racing to the Post Office as we speak to have it certified, tracked, and date stamped today.
Let's just hope that the Post Office is still open.

Ha... I can't take responsbility for procrastination. I could only encourage him and lift him up so far and then he has to do the rest on his own... and he is... on the day that everything is due.

So.... thanks for being part of my husband's oh-my-goodness-wife-let's-turn-this-in-today fiasco.

    Default dead line ?

All the PO's closed early here today.

I didn't think that there was a deadline ... well within reason.

I don't think that they would be that nitpicky if you had your app in the mail ... even though your old license does expire at midnight. Your not out in the field right now. But you are conducting business like advertising and booking and communicating .....

But I could be wrong !!!!

    I wouldn't stress over it !!!!

I definitely like the new found riches going to fund the 'old guides retirement home.' Ain't none of us getting any younger.

Interested in buying me one for my birthday?
    KingFisher has my mailing address.

Really, though... a jump drive would have just been easier.

Are you jealous that I am from Colorado? You mention this quite often.

I guess there is some kind of new requirement where the guide would need to be in communication regularly with the Game Board. My husband's outfitter (of which I can't not stand the thought of him... don't get me started) has been in communication since hunting season, but it didn't mean that my husband has directly been in communication with them.

Also, I didn't want him to re-register has a Guide Assistant. It was expiring as of 12.31.07. I wanted him to turn in his paperwork at Registered Guide. He did the exam as of 12.20.06, but we didn't turn in his paperwork immediately after his passing of that Guide Exam (written and oral).

So... even though there is not a true time on 'expiration', I wouldn't want them to re-register his license as an Assistant, but as an actual 'Registered Guide'.
    Does that make sense?

I hate to point out a sore spot but, legislators love to "put one to us" because we are a minority in the population and are getting smaller (i.e. the hunters/fishers). In Michigan it never amazes me more when the state needs money, oh look hunters, hike up the licenses. I would love to see a coffee tax at starbucks, oh thats like a tea tax, we all know how that ended up.

    You are telling me!
    $450 for my husband's license!
I told him that we support a spendy habit for him. He just smiled.
Can you imagine what his response would be if I asked for that kind of money for something I only did once, twice, or maybe three times per year?

Worth it, though... Worth every dime that the license costs.
