I have done it in as a two day, one overnight trip. The trail has lots of ups and downs so it is a bit of a workout. Water can be a bit scarce later in the year but otherwise Aug/July is probably a great time to do it. It is a great trail, with wonderful views. There is a new Alaska hiking book out that includes a pretty good section on chena dome - http://www.amazon.com/Outside-Interi...9040680&sr=1-1

    Default Thanks

The wife and I are going to make this a goal to do it in 2 days and a night. It is good to hear that it is do able and that it will be a challange fro that time frame is just perfect because that was the idea. We will plan on carrying about 10 to 15 punds her and 20-30 pounds for me. I will look at getting the book.

You have probably already checked this out, but on the off chance you have not, the DNR website has a pdf describing the hike: http://www.dnr.state.ak.us/parks/uni.../chenadmho.pdf .

It is a really wonderful trail, I am sure you and your wife will enjoy the trip.

I did the trail about this time last year in two days and one night. bring snowshoes if you plan on going soon.

Be sure to drive up to the hot springs when you are done for a nice soak. Bring $10 and a towel.
